Vector Renewables designs 'Operational Procedures' to coordinate a common evacuation facility

The growth of renewables in Spain in recent years has positioned the country at the forefront of decarbonisation in Europe, but it has also led to some modifications in the electricity system with the aim of integrating each and every one of the assets being developed. One of the most notable changes has been the need to share the same grid connection point for different projects, with the coordination of the different developers coexisting within these common evacuation facilities being fundamental.

The different actors sharing these facilities can be at very different stages of development, which makes coordinating them a difficult task. For the correct functioning of the projects involved in this type of installation, it is essential that each of the promoters act in alignment and coordination in pursuit of the same goal: to safely feed energy into the grid in the shortest possible time.

With the constant objective of supporting its clients and thanks to the know-how acquired after more than 15 years of experience in all phases of the value chain, Vector Renewables is advising different actors in the sector in the drafting, negotiation and formalisation of an essential document for the successful management of common evacuation infrastructures. This document, which we have called 'Operational Precedures', regulates very relevant aspects from a technical, financial and legal point of view, such as the following:

  • Procedures for the approval and formalisation of documents necessary to manage the day-to-day running of these common evacuation installations, including, among others, any non-recurrent payments that may be necessary.
  • Action in the event that preventive and/or corrective discharges and maintenance are necessary, both in the common evacuation installation itself and in the different private installations connected to it. This action protocol minimises the negative effects that these events can have on the private installations of each developer.
  • Regulating the maximum limit of liability and loss of profit, among other aspects, in relation to those situations that result in a situation of loss of profit that affects the private installations, thus guaranteeing the correct economic viability of the projects linked to the casuistry of each developer.

The 'Operational Precedures'  therefore provide our clients with a useful and effective tool to regulate the coordination between the promoters of the different private installations connected to the common evacuation installations. The aim of these procedures is to define a mechanism to provide an agile response to any event or incident that may arise, whether of an ordinary or extraordinary nature, minimising the risks to the private installations owned by each developer, due to actions derived from other developers connected to the same common evacuation installation.
