Spain considers renewable hydrogen a key technology to decarbonise sectors with limited low carbon solutions, like the transport and gas sectors, according to its NECP (Plan Nacional Integrado de Energía y Clima). Currently, Spain consumes approximately 600 000 tonnes of hydrogen a year, almost exclusively for industrial uses, all of which is from fossil fuels.
