Engineering and Construction

Our engineering team provides expert support in the design, planning, and execution of renewable energy projects, ensuring technical feasibility, regulatory compliance, and cost-effective implementation from development to commissioning. We provide several levels of project monitoring, ranging from remote construction supervision with weekly or monthly visits to a 24-hour on-site presence.

01Owner´s Engineering (OE)

Project Management

We provide comprehensive project management, integrating all teams to protect the owner’s interests, achieve VR’s quality standards, meet contractual deadlines, and ensure full compliance with all EPC requirements upon project completion.

Quality and construction supervision

Depending on the level of monitoring required, our team conducts site visits or maintains a full-time on-site presence to track progress, constraints, and milestones. We also verify the performance of the EPC contractor and the main components through on-site or factory inspections and testing.

Engineering design review

We review all project engineering documentation to ensure alignment with applicable regulations, market standards, and the signed EPC contract.

02EPC/O&M Tender

Request For Proposal (RFP) elaboration

We assist clients in developing comprehensive RFP´s for EPC/O&M. Our scope includes defining the tender strategy, technical specifications, and qualification criteria to ensure a competitive and transparent procurement process.

Prepare and negotiate the Technical Documents with bidders

We assist in drafting and negotiating the technical annexes of EPC/O&M contracts, including the scope of work, performance guarantees, interface definitions, and quality standards. Throughout the tender process, we act as a technical advisor, facilitating clarifications, aligning expectations, and ensuring fair and efficient negotiations with shortlisted bidders.

Management of onsite preliminary studies

We coordinate and supervise the execution of preliminary studies required to inform the design and contracting phase. We ensure that geotechnical, hydrological, and topographic surveys are carried out by qualified partners and that the results are delivered in alignment with industry standards.

03Others

Specific technical studies (grid, electrical, civil, mechanical)

We conduct targeted technical studies across key engineering disciplines to support project development, design optimization, and risk mitigation. Our capabilities include grid compliance assessments, electrical system sizing, civil and structural analysis, and mechanical interface evaluation. These services are tailored to project-specific requirements and aligned with applicable standards.

HSE Supervision during construction

To ensure full compliance with contractual, regulatory, and best-practice standards, we provide on-site HSE supervision during the construction phase.

Preliminary engineering design

We develop preliminary engineering designs to support early-stage decision-making and permitting processes. Our scope includes technology selection, plant layout, electrical single-line diagrams, and civil concept design, providing a solid technical foundation for detailed engineering and procurement activities.

FAQ

Why should I appoint an Owner’s Engineer for a renewable energy project?

An Owner's Engineer acts as the technical representative of the project owner throughout project final stages of development, construction and commissioning. By providing independent oversight, the Owner's Engineer helps protect the owner's interests, ensure compliance with contractual requirements, maintain quality standards and support project delivery on time and within budget.

When should an Owner's Engineer be involved in a project?

The earlier, the better. Involving an Owner's Engineer before construction begins allows engineering designs, technical studies, tender documentation and contractor obligations to be reviewed before major commitments are made. The Owner's Engineer then remains involved throughout construction and commissioning, providing continuous technical oversight.

How can an Owner's Engineer reduce construction risks and delays?

Construction projects face a range of risks, including design inconsistencies, contractor underperformance, quality issues and schedule delays. Through project management, design reviews and construction supervision, an Owner's Engineer identifies potential issues early and helps avoid costly rework, claims and commissioning delays.

What level of construction monitoring do you provide?

We offer several levels of construction monitoring depending on project requirements, ranging from remote supervision combined with periodic site visits to full-time on-site representation. This flexibility allows investors and asset owners to maintain the appropriate level of technical oversight throughout construction.

What does engineering design review include?

Our engineering design reviews assess project documentation to verify compliance with regulations, industry standards and EPC contractual requirements. The review helps identify technical gaps, constructability issues and performance risks before they impact project execution.

What should be completed before launching an EPC tender?

Before issuing an EPC tender, developers and investors should establish a solid technical baseline through preliminary engineering design, grid connection assessments, geotechnical surveys, topographical studies and other site-specific analyses. This reduces uncertainty and enables bidders to provide more accurate and competitive proposals.

How do you support EPC and O&M tenders?

We support clients throughout the tender process by preparing RFP documentation, defining technical requirements, evaluating proposals and negotiating technical contract annexes. Our objective is to ensure that performance guarantees, quality standards and project responsibilities are clearly defined before contract award.

Why are preliminary site studies important?

Studies such as geotechnical surveys, hydrological analyses and topographical studies provide essential information for engineering design, procurement and construction planning. Early identification of site constraints helps reduce project risks and avoid costly modifications during construction.

What technical studies do you provide?

We perform a broad range of engineering studies, including grid assessments, electrical studies, civil and structural analyses, mechanical reviews and project-specific technical evaluations. These studies support project development, design optimisation and risk mitigation.

How do you help ensure Health, Safety and Environmental (HSE) compliance during construction?

Our HSE supervision services provide independent oversight during project execution to support compliance with contractual requirements, regulatory obligations and industry best practices. Regular site inspections help identify potential issues and promote safe construction practices.

Can you support renewable energy projects before detailed engineering begins?

Yes. Our preliminary engineering services support early-stage project development by defining layouts, technology selection, electrical concepts and civil design assumptions. This provides a reliable technical foundation for permitting, procurement and investment decisions.
