What is the difference between Technical Due Diligence (TDD) and Lender Technical Advisory (LTA)?
Technical Due Diligence (TDD) is typically performed on behalf of buyers or sellers involved in a renewable energy transaction. It assesses technical risks, project design, performance, permitting status, contractual arrangements and CAPEX/OPEX assumptions to support investment decisions and asset valuation.
Lender Technical Advisory (LTA) is carried out on behalf of financing institutions and supports lenders throughout the financing process, from financial close and construction monitoring through to operational monitoring during the life of the loan.
What does a Technical Due Diligence cover?
Our Technical Due Diligence assessments analyse key technical, operational and commercial aspects of renewable energy assets, including resource assessment, energy production forecasts, design review, permitting, grid connection, contractual structure, historical performance and CAPEX/OPEX assumptions. The scope is tailored to the specific requirements of each transaction.
Can you support both buyers and sellers during a transaction?
Yes. We provide Buy-Side and Sell-Side Technical Due Diligence services for wind, solar PV and BESS assets. Our team also supports clients during negotiations, assisting with data room clarifications, Q&A processes and transaction discussions to ensure technical risks are properly understood and reflected in transaction terms.
When should I involve a Lender’s Technical Advisor?
A Lender’s Technical Advisor should ideally be engaged before financial close. Early involvement allows lenders to identify technical risks, review project assumptions and establish an appropriate monitoring framework throughout construction and operation.
What is the difference between a Preconstruction EYA and an Operational EYA?
A Preconstruction Energy Yield Assessment estimates the expected energy production of projects under development through resource evaluation, technology selection and energy modelling. An Operational EYA evaluates existing assets using actual production data to assess performance, identify losses, investigate underperformance and highlight optimisation opportunities.
Are your Energy Yield Assessments bankable?
Yes. All our Energy Yield Assessments are prepared according to internationally recognised methodologies and tailored to the requirements of investors, lenders and asset owners. Our reports provide robust and transparent documentation to support project financing, refinancing and asset valuation processes.
My asset is underperforming. How can Vector Renewables help?
Our Operational Analysis services help identify performance gaps and their root causes. By analysing SCADA data, maintenance records and technical documentation, we investigate issues such as equipment failures, curtailment, grid constraints and operational inefficiencies. We then quantify losses and provide practical recommendations to improve performance.
Should I consider repowering an existing renewable energy asset?
Repowering may be an effective way to increase energy production, extend asset value and optimise the use of existing infrastructure. Our team assesses site potential, available resources, grid capacity, regulatory requirements and technology options to determine the feasibility and value of repowering opportunities.
Can a wind or solar plant continue operating beyond its original design life?
In many cases, yes. Our Useful Life Assessment service evaluates the technical feasibility of extending the operational life of renewable energy assets through independent lifetime assessments, risk analysis, compliance reviews and life-extension planning. We also assess the investments required to support continued operation.
What is included in a renewable energy feasibility study?
Our feasibility studies combine site and resource assessment, technical design optimisation and preliminary CAPEX/OPEX analysis to determine whether a project is technically and economically viable. The outcome provides developers, investors and asset owners with a solid basis for development decisions and investor engagement.
At what stage should a feasibility study be performed?
The earlier, the better. Feasibility studies are most valuable during the initial stages of project development, before significant investments are made. Early assessment helps identify opportunities, constraints and optimisation measures that can significantly improve project outcomes.
Which technologies do you cover?
We provide Advisory services across solar PV, wind, battery energy storage systems (BESS) and hybrid renewable energy projects, supporting both individual assets and complex portfolios throughout the asset lifecycle.
